BITTERROOT VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Important Message From Superintendent

Bitterroot Valley Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 12.

The Corvallis School District is committed to do our part in providing a safe and healthy learning environment for our students and community. Over the past few days, we’ve all witnessed an increasing concern as it relates to the spread of a Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that causes the disease called COVID19. Under these circumstances, we rely upon other authoritative agencies to guide our response to Coronavirus and other contagious illnesses. While we currently do not have any confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Ravalli County or Montana, it is reasonable to expect the ‘landscape’ to change rapidly. For links to the latest information about the Coronavirus, visit our homepage.

At Tuesday’s School Board meeting there was much discussion regarding District approved travel. Travel will be scrutinized on a case by case basis using the most up to date information from sources such as the CDC, the county and state public health office. Likewise, regular District operations are contingent upon our needs and guidance from OPI and our local public health office. Please understand that this is an evolving situation and the Corvallis School District will be as responsive as possible. Last week we published a link on our District’s homepage with resources and guidance related to this illness. Additionally, our maintenance staff have further refined their facility cleaning protocols. Building staff are reinforcing with our students the importance of hand washing among other hygiene habits that address the spread of this and other illnesses. Please visit our homepage for links to specific advice from the CDC and other public health organizations regarding identifying symptoms and reasonable actions to take if you suspect yourself or a family member is becoming ill.

Any limitations to educational services will be in coordination with state and county public health officials and communicated through Infinite Campus Messenger, social media, and other new sharing networks (TV, radio). Thank you for your help and diligence in working through these challenging times.
