West Yellowstone Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 28.
Yellowstone Park Cycle Only Days
Note this date is approximate and subject to change based on conditions in Yellowstone National Park.
When roads are cleared of snow, but before the regular vehicle season starts, Yellowstone National Park has an opportunity for cyclists to ride the roads and experience the park.
Ride in Yellowstone for free and before the Park is open to public automobiles or buses. It’s a perfect way to spend a day.
The west entrance opens to regular vehicle traffic on Friday, April 19 at 8 AM. This ends the cycle only days and starts the regular spring season in Yellowstone National Park. West Entrance to Yellowstone Opens For Spring Season has more details on that opening.
From Yellowstone's website: "Spring bicycling season usually starts by early April (there is no set date). Designated routes are only opened when snow removal and other pre-season business can accommodate cyclists. Please note that roads may not be plowed on weekends and snowfall can be heavy at times."
The West entrance in West Yellowstone to Mammoth Hot Springs allows cyclists to access to stunning vistas and amazing wildlife. Please plan ahead, watch for wildlife, and vehicles performing park business.
